Woods Canyon Lake Fishing Guide

Woods Canyon Lake is a relatively small lake (55 acres) and has a very scenic setting in a heavily forested area on the edge of the Mogollon Rim. Located in northern Arizona in the Coconino County (About 2 hours from Phoenix, AZ and about 30 mi east of the city of Payson, AZ) and has an average depth of 25 ft and a max depth of 40 ft.

Woods Canyon Lake is one in a series of small, canyon-bound lakes (also known as the Rim Lakes) and is one of the more developed and accessible lake that is located on the Mogollon Rim with an elevation of 7,505 ft.

The Woods Canyon Lake store and marina offers first come, first served boat rental as well as fishing tackle, gear, fishing licenses, groceries, beer & wine, ice and more.

Wood Cayon Lake offers great fishing for Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout.

Woods Canyon Lake is openApril thru October as weather permits.

Directions to Woods Canyon Lake

Heading from Phoenix, AZ you'll need to take State Route 87 to heading to Payson, AZ. From there, head East On Highway 260 to the top of the Mogollon Rim.

Next, make a left turn after mile marker 282 onto Forest Road 300. Go 4 miles of FR 300 and take a right on RTE 105.

Please be aware that the Forest Service roads that leads you to Woods Canyon Lake are closed during the winter months and are open after the snow recedes, which is usually in the month of April.
