Shasta Lake offers great fishing for both warmwater and coldwater fishes that includes: rainbow trout, brown trout, chinook salmon, black crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill, Sacramento sucker, Sacramento squawfish, riffle sculpin, carp, black fish, hardhead minnow, white sturgeon, channel squawfish, threadfin shad, white catfish, brown bullhead, golden shiner and green sunfish.

Shasta Lake is a 30,000-acre reservoir, 516 feet deep and is just 10 miles north of Redding and 170 miles north of Sacramento

Fishing for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Salmon you have a variety of options that include fishing on the McCloud River Arm, trolling from Turntable Bay to Hirz Bay will usually produce some brown trout.

Also, fishing for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Salmon the Sacramento River Arm, Dry Fork, Little Squaw creek and Big Backbone Creek will usually produce some great Rainbow Trout as well. Fishing for Rainbow Trout is usually good at Shasta Dam.

Shoreline fishing at Shasta Lake you have a variety of options that includes the following areas: Jones Valley, Silverthorn, the area around Shasta Dam, Dry Fork Creek trail, Fisherman's Point Trail, Salt Creek and under the Pit River Bridge.

Boat fishing at Shasta Lake try Trolling from Hirz Bay to Turntable Bay along the McCloud River Arm, Sacramento River Arm. Also, fishing by the Dam, Bridge Bay and around Ski Island, Toupee Island, and No Name Island, McCloud River Arm Dry Creek area and by any trees in shallow water and Little Sugarloaf Creek, Pit River Arm, Jones Valley
