Rainbow Lake Fishing Guide

Rainbow Lake in the Arizona White Mountains near the town of Pinetop-Lakeside is great manmade fishing lake that is about 116 acres with an average depth of 7 feet and a maximum depth of 14 feet at an elevation of 6,760 feet.

Rainbow Lake offers great fishing for Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Black Bullhead and Channel Catfish. Rainbow Trout are stocked with catchable sided Trout in the spring and early summer and is usually the bet time to fish Rainbow Lake.

Rainbow Lake is best fish by boat as the majority of the shoreline is privately owned. However, the land adjacent to the Rainbow Lake dam is for public fishing and recreational boating. To reach this parcel at Rainbow Lake just turn south on Rainbow Lake Road or Lakeview Lane from Highway 260.

Best Ways to Catch Fish on Rainbow Lake.

  • Raibow Trout: Trolling for Raibow Trout using either small Kastmasters, Panther Martin's or Rooster Tail spinners. From the shore PowerBait and nightcrawlers works well.
  • Largemouth Bass: Spinner baits, lures and real or plastic worm rigs near any structures
  • Pike: Spinner baits, lures and real or plastic worm rigs near any structures
  • Catfish or Black Bullheads: Nightcrawlers, Stink baits

Boating on Rainbow Lake is restricted to electric or a maximum of 10 HP gas motors.

State fishing license with trout stamp is required for 14 & older, limit 6 for licensed and 3 for unlicensed anglers under 13 to fish at Rainbow Lake.
